Capable of performing at high feed rates while extending tooling life in titanium, cobalt-chrome, stainless steels and other medical-grade materials, the Vision Plus series is now available from the Hanita brand of Kennametal Inc. This particular offering is helpful for implant and instrumentation manufacturers, says the company.
Medical component production lends itself to small parts runs, precision finishes and the necessity of minimizing scrap because of the costs associated with work materials, says the company. With these factors in mind, the company has designed the flute form to incorporate a parabaloidal core. This design is said to enable high feed rates, even at extreme axial depths of cut.
A range of micro sizes (0.3 mm to 6.0 mm) are available, as are varying lengths.
Square end, ball nose, and extended neck styles for long-reach applications are offered as well.
