View MoreWilcox Associates, the software develoment arm of Hexagon Metrology, offers Version 4.2 of its PC-DMIS 3D measurement software for CMMs and other metrology devices. The software is the core engine for a range of interoperable Enterprise Metrology Solutions (EMS) products used with on-machine, vision, multi-sensor and portable measurement systems.
The latest version features new dimensioning capabilities, including fit optimization for profile tolerancing, calculated flatness for a unit area and better evaluation of symmetry features. The software also includes enhanced functions for scanning with both touch-trigger and analog probes as well as for managing output data. In addition to checking boundaries by comparing step size to ball diameters, new routines control the drop-down distance around holes for all probe types. Users can remove outliers and highlight points directly from the graphics display.
Streamlined, hypertext-like editing facilities allow users to group information as well as collapse and expand groups as necessary. For greater control over program execution, the software features “smart” placement of message boxes and conditionally applies tolerances during “any order” program execution. Other features include increased flexibility for controlling the display and appearance of the graphics window and CAD models, improved processing of CAD files, and extensions to the gear-measurement option.
