The T S Harrison range of manual/CNC lathes has entered a new era with the launch of the Alpha X series, says The 600 Group. The series is comprised of the Alpha XT, XS and 1550XM, the latter of which includes a full C axis and milling capabilities.
All of the lathes incorporate a number of technical enhancements aimed at accelerating turning speeds while improving power and reliability. The controls have been developed by Harrison’s design engineering team and GE Fanuc. Models 1350XT, 1400XT, 1460XT and 1550XT are all equipped with the GE Fanuc Oi Mate TC, loaded with Turn Mate i conversational software.
In addition, the Alpha XS (1350XS, 1400XS, 1460XS, 1550XS and 1800XS) as well as the XM models are similarly equipped with electronics developed by Harrison and GE Fanuc. Each of these lathes features a GE Fanuc 21i TB control. Also included are two software systems—custom Alpha mode programming software unique to Alpha lathes, and the Fanuc Manual Guide i conversational programming system.
