The DME indexable gun drill from Drill Masters-Eldorado Tool is manufactured from micro-grain carbide and available in several PVD wear-resistant coatings. According to the company, the drill’s positive rake chip breakers and chip-splitting geometries enable the use of feed rates three to four times that of traditional gun drills.
The drills are offered in diameters ranging from 0.625" to 1.25" and with five insert sizes. Triangular inserts offer three cutting edges and require no adjustment to produce on-size bores. Guide pads are brazed or solid carbide, and are also available coated. The drills are also available with double rows of guide pads for increased stability.
