Kurt’s hydraulic clamping systems are designed for faster, more accurate workpiece clamping. The line includes a range of swing clamps, accessories and hydraulic pump options for configuring workholding for a single machining center, or a cell with multiple machines and pallets. According to the company, the systems can locate and clamp workpieces in seconds for high-precision repeatability with increased machine output. The systems are designed to increase productivity, improve quality, and reduce labor costs and scrap.

The swing clamp cylinder bodies are constructed of HRC 38-46 hardened tool steel with polished inner surfaces for longer operating life. Pistons are hard-chromed and polished for wear resistance and smooth operation. They also are heat-treated to HRC 60-63 to reduce abrasion and resist wear. Guide rods with guide slots reduce clamp stress while promoting smooth operation and longer life, the company says. Pins are HRC 38-40 heat-treated for extra strength.

The swing clamps provide 475 to 6,000 lbs of clamping force with a maximum pressure of 5,000 psi. Their single-cylinder design actuates both the swing and clamping cycle in one continuous automatic motion with the flip of a switch. Swing clamp motion direction can be changed with a push/pull feature to turn the clamping head 90 degrees to the left or right. The clamps are available in upper and lower flange and threaded body mounting styles for added flexibility.
