Hwacheon presents the Hwacheon Sirius-UM+, a high precision vertical machining center with a 500-mm Y-axis. It is equipped with a wide selection of built-in motor spindle options ranging from 20,000 rpm to 45,000 rpm. Designed to cater to mold & die requirements, the Sirius-UM+ is said to enhance machining accuracy. The high-performance spindle integrates with Hwacheon’s patented oil-jet lubrication technology to optimize performance and power during roughing, which is said to advance surface machining results during both short and long operational cycle times. Additionally, the short distance between the spindle and the body can enable the machine to stay stable after prolonged hours of operation. The machine contains travels of 29.53″ × 19.69″ × 17.72″.
The bilateral gate structure in Sirius-UM is designed to distribute the vibration, weight and heat throughout the entire frame. Finite element analysis methods can help to minimize the frame distortion, which may be caused by machining conditions or environment. Before final finish passes, Sirius-UM+ machines can — using Hwacheon’s HFDC (Hwacheon frame displacement control system) software — dynamically compensate for any changes that may have occurred in machine kinematics due to temperature, vibration or changes in the tool itself.
