According to Hexagon Metrology, the Leica T-Scan 5 is more than 15 times faster than the previous model and nearly doubles the standoff distance for more efficient data capture in difficult-to-reach areas. The handheld device for non-contact laser scanning for CAD-to-part inspections and reverse engineering applications provides immediate feedback of critical features after design iterations. The scanner is suitable for applications in the aerospace, automotive, ship building, and earthmoving industries. It may also be employed for automation and robotic applications, where inspection processes benefit from maximum laser tracking and machine performance.
When used in conjunction with the Leica Absolute Tracker AT901, The T-Scan 5 scanner captures hundreds of millions of accurate points on virtually any surface—from black matte to highly reflective surfaces, including carbon fiber—without any special preparation, Hexagon says. Higher scan rates enable greater feature recognition, detection of smaller details and quicker scanning at an approved quality level on all surfaces and colors.
