Colchester Lathes’ Combi 6000 has an 800-mm swing over the bed and a 170-mm bore and bed length options of 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 mm between centers.
The Fanuc 2 10i-TA features single-screen program creation software and six methods of programming. The control carries out single-cycle turning operations using the intuitive menu selection and the 960-tool library memory. Macros offer step-by-step operation sequences. One noteworthy feature is the program’s capability to re-enact programmed cycles in automatic mode for batch production, says the company.
The control system has 26 kW of power available at the spindle, with a low/high range to provide speeds ranging between 10 rpm and 1,500 rpm. The control can act as a simple digital readout in conjunction with electronic handwheels or it can be used in teach and repeat mode. The operator can also use the on-screen, icon-based command CAD/CAM capability and virtual tool and solid modeling programs. In addition, the system will accept off-line created program downloads via DNC.
