Fairlane Workholding Components Enable Modular Positioning
Fairlane Products Inc.’s Swivots workholding components swivel, pivot and tilt to compensate for angles and irregularities of the workpiece.
Fairlane Products Inc.’s Swivots workholding components provide a modular component system that can help the positioning, clamping, holding and supporting designs and builds of virtually any mechanical device. Swivots swivel, pivot and tilt to compensate for angles and irregularities of the workpiece. The ball swivels 360 degrees and tilts at varying degrees in any direction from centerline. They are said to be equally effective for tough-to-hold castings or delicate positioning applications.
A typical Swivot assembly consists of a replaceable ball assembly (high-speed tool steel or Delrin) with replaceable pad (flat, serrated or Delrin) or solid ball, on O-ring, lock screw and a housing. Housings are available in three designs: hex-head adjustable, threaded adjustable and base design. Swivots are used in manual, hydraulic and pneumatic clamping devices and other workholding fixtures. They enable the workpiece to stay in position by maximizing full surface area contact.
Swivots are available in various sizes and styles, both inch and metric, including base-design Swivots and hex-head styles. Swivots are available with flat, flat cone, serrated and abrasive diamond surfaces. Effective for heavy-duty and light-duty applications, they are available in tool steel, stainless steel, Delrin and urethane.
The base design variety is available in diameters of 3/8" to 15/16" with #4-3/8-24 threads and 10-4 mm diameters and M4-M8 thread. Hex head Swivots are available in sizes from 3/8"-15/16" and 10 to 24 mm with threads from M6-M20.
