SpinTech Tools offers Neidlein face drivers for workholding on turning machines, which are said to reduce cycle times by half and increase production and part quality. Available in different sizes depending on the shaft, face drivers enable operators to tool and finish a workpiece with just one clamping, eliminating second operations that would require rechucking. Operating via the thrust from the tailstock or headstock, the face driver clamps shafts between centers to expose the entire length of the workpiece.
These face drivers provide quick-change components and feature mechanical internal locking mechanisms. In the locked-down position, they become a solid driving fixture with no movement, reducing vibration and harmonics to help eliminate chatter and promote maximum feed rates, speed and torque for deeper cuts.
The product provides a constant datum point from the face or center hole of the shafts, promoting high true-running accuracy and retaining the center line of the workpiece. With a face driver, the part is constantly worked from a single plane to promote precise machining.
