View MoreEural USA Inc. has developed new lead-free, free-cutting aluminum alloys that are said to be compliant with restrictive limitations and provide high machinability and productivity.
According to the company, 2077 Lead Free is an aluminum alloy that has high mechanical properties and excellent machinability. It forms thin chips comparable to 2011, which makes it ideal for machining on high-speed automatic lathes to achieve high productivity. 2077 Lead Free has an Rm greater than or equal to 69.6 Ksi ultimate tensile strength (UTS), exceeding 2024. It is an alternative option to hard alloys such as 2014, 2014A, 2024, 2017, 2017A, 7020 and 7075. Depending on the final application, it can also be a replacement for certain types of stainless steel, cast iron and brass.
2077 Lead Free does not contain tin, which can cause weakness and cracking of machined parts when submitted to high stress or high temperatures. Instead, 2077 Lead Free is produced with a high content of recycled aluminum to reduce the energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
