National Surface Finishing Day
Each year Products Finishing partners with thousands of finishing operations in the U.S. to celebrate National Surface Finishing Day (NSFD) on the first Wednesday in March. NSFD is designed to celebrate and showcase the industry to trade schools, businesses, officials and media, as well as to celebrate employees and staff. The overarching goal of NSFD is to bring further awareness to the important roles plating and coating facilities play in their communities. Facilities are encouraged to host events and work with local media to build awareness about the contributions made by the surface finishing industry. The Haas DS-30 series dual-spindle turning center can turn both ends of a part in a single setup to minimize part handling, increase throughput and reduce work in process. The opposed spindles offer fully synchronized turning for clean part-off, and enable on-the-fly part pass-off to reduce cycle times. The turning center is available in standard and Super Speed configurations.

The standard configuration has a maximum cutting capacity of 21" × 26", and is equipped with a 12-station BOT turret. The A2-6 main spindle features an 8.3" hydraulic chuck, and is powered by a 30-hp vector drive system that provides 275 foot-pounds of
torque. The A2-5 secondary spindle also has an 8.3" hydraulic chuck, and is powered by a 20-hp vector drive system that provides 150 foot-pounds of torque. Both spindles turn
to 4,000 rpm, and have a 2.0" bar capacity.

The Super Speed configuration has a maximum cutting capacity of 16" × 26", and is equipped with a 24-station hybrid BOT/VDI turret. The A2-6 main spindle features an 8.3" hydraulic chuck, and is powered by a 30-hp vector drive system that provides 250 foot-pounds of torque. The A2-5 secondary spindle also has an 8.3" hydraulic chuck, and is powered by a 20-hp vector drive system that provides 150 foot-pounds of torque. Both spindles turn to 4,800 rpm, and have a 2.0" bar capacity.

Both machines provide a maximum swing of 31.75" over the front apron, with a 20.75" swing over the cross slide. Standard equipment includes rigid tapping, spindle orientation, a 15" color LCD monitor and a USB port. High-productivity options include a belt-type chip conveyor, automatic tool probe, automatic parts catcher, high-pressure coolant systems and more.
