The FD series of CNC vertical machining centers from Hyundai-WIA features an integrated dual-pallet configuration and is designed for high-production environments. The series includes the F410D, F500D and F600D with X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measuring 22.4" × 16" × 23", 23.6" × 18" × 22.4", and 31.5" × 23.6" × 23.6", respectively. Through-spindle coolant and rigid tapping are standard.
The machines feature a traveling-column design for uniform loads to the guideways, ballscrews and spindle motor. The automatic, 180-degree indexing dual pallet is incorporated into the standard design and is accessible from the front. Pallet change can be completed in 6 sec..
The bed, column and saddle are designed with finite element analysis (FEA) and are composed of Meehanite cast iron. The rigid bed is said to absorb vibration to increase machining stability. All axes are driven by high-precision, double-nut ballscrews connected directly to the servodrive motors without gears or belts to eliminate backlash. Linear-motion guideways in all three axes enable rapid, high-speed axis movement to reduce non-cutting time and decrease machining time.
The machines can be configured with a 10,000-rpm or a 12,000-rpm spindle for high-precision applications. According to the company, ultra-precision class angular bearings provide high speed acceleration and deceleration for smooth machining at fast speeds. The main spindle is designed to minimize noise and vibration, even at high cutting speeds, for stable machining and minimal thermal transmission.
The machining centers are equipped with 24-tool (30-tool optional), side-mount swing-arm-type automatic toolchangers (ATCs). The ATC and magazine are separated by a shutter system, which closes during machining to keep out chips and fluids. The ATCs accept tools with a maximum diameter of OD: 90/150 mm, length of 300 mm and weight of 8 kg.
A FANUC i-series CNC control with a 10.4" color LCD screen is standard. A Siemens 825D control is also available.
