The Roundtest RA-120/P roundness measuring machine from Mitutoyo America offers the versatility of a PC-control with a compact footprint. The machine is said to combine lab-level accuracy with shopfloor capacity. It has a high rotational accuracy of 0.04+6H/10,000 µm (where H is the probing height measured in millimeters), a precise air bearing turntable rated up to 55 lbs (25 kg) and many optimizations for rapid inspection. According to the company, PC control makes the machine versatile and easy to use with the company’s Roundpak roundness/cylindrical measurement and analysis software. This Windows-compatible software is designed to simplify control, preliminary setup and measurement while providing analysis output functionality. By storing and indexing measurement and evaluation setups, libraries of sequences can be compiled on a workpiece-by-workpiece basis.
The system provides 12 analysis options: roundness, coaxiality, concentricity, radial runout, axial runout, perpendicularity to axis, perpendicularity to plane, wall thickness deviation, flatness, parallelism, performance spectrum and harmonic analysis.
