Missler Software says its TopSolid’Design 7.6 CAD/CAM software improves productivity and simplifies the design and modification of large assemblies in an organized and structured environment.
 
FreeShape, a new function in the upgrade, ensures that the correct tolerances are applied to parts designed using TopSolid. It can also manage tolerances for imported parts designed using other CAD software. This function does not need a history tree to edit imported parts. The function can also extract drillings from imported parts. The software’s ability to detect and automatically recreate drilling operations enables users to easily change and manage the drilling position for each operation, the company says.
 
The software also features completely integrated and transparent PDM. All data-management actions are carried out directly in TopSolid, and data is shared and secured transparently.
 
A 3D part-creation wizard enables users to quickly and automatically rebuild 3D parts from imported 2D files, such as SXF drafts.
 
Users can also drive design directly from an Excel document. By entering parameters into an Excel spreadsheet, which is external to TopSolid, users can enter dimensions directly at the customer site. Once the spreadsheet is filled in, a connection to TopSolid’Design will update the CAD designs, BOMs and associated drawings.
 

Draft creation has also been improved. Users can create and include 2D components and customizable symbols to fully complete draft documents. Drilling tables are available to show the type and position of each hole. Also, revision index tables and difference notes help manage product life cycles.
