HyperCAD-S, Open Mind’s CAD software, integrates with the company’s HyperMill CAM system, designed to meet the needs of NC programmers. The 2014 version of the CAD software offers a number of improvements, including a deformation module which enables users to deform all geometries in accordance with requirements. For example, if warping occurs during the manufacture of thin-walled parts, the user can compensate for it by making a specific change to the geometry to ensure the parts meet the intended requirements. The geometry can be offset in the opposite direction before generating the program for greater accuracy after machining. Other possible applications include compensating for the springback effect in stamping sheet metal parts or applying 2D lettering to 3D geometries using volumetric deformation.
