Especially suited for inspecting bolts and threaded plugs, Cincinnati Automation’s automated inspection system includes three Cognex vision sensors for examining part length, OD, thread size and hex drive size. The sensors can also be employed to detect the presence of burrs on parts.
The bolts are oriented by a vibratory feeder bowl and positioned with a flexible escapement for pickup. Parts can be moved into inspection positions via a servo-pneumatic pick-place system. Those parts deemed suitable are then counted and placed into a tote. Another capability of the machine is that it can be programmed to shut down once a full box count is reached.
