View MoreKardex Remstar offers two models of its Shuttle XP Vertical Lift Module (VLM), an automatic inventory storage unit. The module’s 250 model is suited for light-duty storage, while its 1000 model has a 2,204-lb (1,000-kg) capacity per tray. A crane can also be mounted to the 1000 model’s load profile.
The module can be maneuvered into position in front of the access opening to pick up heavy items from the floor or from a pallet. It can be equipped with access-ready lights. These lights tell the user when the tray is in place and ready for picking, making user training more efficient.
All of the companies’ storage units operate by delivering items directly to the user, reducing travel and search time associated with shelving. According to the company, implementing automated storage can increase productivity by as much as 67 percent and reduce wasted floor space, making more room for revenue-generating activities.
Equipped with Power Pick Global inventory management software and Pick-to-Light technology, the module has a transaction information center mounted at the access opening to enable selection by part number and quantity.
