Okuma America Corporation’s Genos M460V-5AX is a five-axis vertical machining center making its debut at IMTS. It is specifically designed to manufacture high-precision, complex parts and to deliver impressive metal removal rates in a compact design. This vertical machining center combines a full five-axis simultaneous control with rigid, cast iron, double-column construction and a high-speed spindle. The Genos M460V-5AX is an example of Okuma’s commitment to offer affordable excellence in the form of high-performance machining centers. At IMTS this machine will be demonstrating five-axis machining for job shops.

The Genos M460V-5AX is able to cut a variety of complex parts—and exotic metals—with effortless speed and precision. The key features of the GENOS M460V-5AX are:

  • Spindle: The spindle motor design produces less vibration and power loss at the tool tip, delivering excellent surface finishes.
  • Pre-Tension Ball Screws: High-precision ball screws generate smooth linear guide movement to all three axes, allowing for better control of the machining process.
  • Solid Trunnion: Using a hypoid gear drive, the sturdy trunnion has outstanding accuracy, rigidity, and table rotation speed.
  • OSP Control: Okuma’s open-architecture machine control is PC-based and allows customization for optimum machining performance.
  • Thermo-Friendly Concept: To increase accuracy, the machine is designed and built to be thermally stable to compensate for ambient temperatures around the machine, as well as for heat generated during machining.
  • Five-Axis Auto-Tuning System: This system maintains precise machining and easily fine-tunes the machine by measuring geometric errors and making automatic adjustments as needed.

The Genos M460V-5AX delivers exceptional machining through a compact machine footprint, rapid feed rates, precise cutting, and smooth surface finishes. It’s also just another way that Okuma offers endless—and economical—possibilities for your business.
