The Unitec flexible tool adapter system from Heimatec enables a standard ER output live tool toaccept various adapters for a variety of applications. Users can quickly change tools on virtually any lathe. According to the company, no commitment to a quick-change system is necessary on the initial purchase. For example, a face-mill adapter can be positioned in the standard holder without installing a new base. This reduces inventory costs, the company says.
A polygonal drive system ensures high power transmission stability and faster setup without loss of performance or accuracy because the live tool base remains in position, and only the adapter and collet are swapped.
For rigid mounting, the collet nuts have internal threading. Also, the tool adapter system’s short and compact tool-length design enables the cutting tool to be brought into closer proximity to the bearing, further improving performance. Internal coolant pressure ranges to 2,000 psi (140 bar).
The complete adaptor comes complete with necessary clamping nuts. It is available in face-mill style, ER extension, side-lock, shrink-fit, hydraulic and blank configurations.
