Verisurf Software has released version X9 of its 3D measurement software which includes the Verisurf Solids, a complete 3D solid modeling application, as well as productivity enhancements to other modules. The new functionality and added features are designed to make stationary coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), portable CMMs and 3D scanners more productive for automated inspection, guided assembly and reverse engineering.
The Verisurf CAD module enables the creation and editing of solid models as well as raster-to-vector conversion. The module has been updated to include three components which were previously available as add-ons: creation and editing of solid models; raster-to-vector conversion of images and photos; and true shape nesting of 3D geometry for use in composite materials, 3D printing and other applications.
New “speed menu” options for point cloud and mesh objects reduce the time necessary to scan, align and inspect part data. In the improved point cloud display with shading, the fine details of live scans look better and appear in real time as the data is collected. True shape nesting optimizes the placement of many 3D parts on a CMM for automated inspection, and enables inspection of gap and/or flush of scanned points to the CAD model.
Analysis functionality has been optimized for increased speed and accuracy when using large scan data with the capability to process and display 1 million points per second in real time. These enhancements have enabled new productivity features, including a “Do It” icon to run the macro for quick alignment, registration, analysis and reporting.
The Verisurf Reverse module includes expanded file support for importing and exporting cloud or mesh files, easing acceptance of data from virtually any scan/capture source or other software, as well as exporting to all CAD, modeling and rendering applications. A right-click menu provides the ability to register multiple clouds or meshes to each other, align scan data so similarly-shaped CAD parts, fit alignment of scan data to a CAD part and more.
