Thomas, a provider of industrial product sourcing and supplier selection resources, has announced the launch of version 4.0 of its ThomasNet platform. The release marks 120 years since the company’s founding in 1898.

Version 4.0 of the Thomas Network contains the Thomas Insights section, which offers more than 300,000 articles, videos and white papers on manufacturing innovations, industry trends, new products and industry education. This data is now accessible through a single search offering, as is the company’s detailed information on over 500,000 North American suppliers, more than 6 million industrial products and 10 million CAD files. The redesigned user experience unifies all of these online resources in order to support the workflow of industrial decision-makers, on both the buyer side and supplier side.

“Last year we conducted one of the largest-ever studies into the needs of today’s industrial buyers,” says President and CEO Tony Uphoff. “Thomasnet.com 4.0 reflects what we found. The addition of Thomas Insights will educate and inform buyers throughout their buying process and add to our mission of being the daily resource for industry. Also, we implemented new technology that enhances the user experience, and enables us to quickly introduce new features, tools, and functionality to meet our users’ needs as industry 4.0 evolves.”

The network recently surpassed 650,000 active registered users and adds more than 10,000 new qualified registered users every month, according to the company. Among the engineering and procurement professionals registering on the platform, 40 percent are said to be millennials, a vital demographic for industry as the baby boomers retire in record numbers.
