United Grinding Group (Hamburg, Germany) has launched a joint venture with Inspire AG. The venture, IRPD AG (St. Gallen, Switzerland), will focus on developing additive manufacturing processes such as laser sintering and 3D printing. The venture is United Grinding’s new Center of Excellence for Additive Manufacturing.

The joint venture’s location will remain the campus of the former Inspire Institute for Rapid Product Development (IRPD) Center of Excellence, a part of the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology. The venture will aid in that institution’s material research.
