Tyrolit Acquires U.S. Abrasives Manufacturer

The Tyrolit Group (Cincinnati, Ohio) has acquired Radiac Abrasives. Radiac (Salem, Illinois) is the second largest manufacturer of bonded conventional and superabrasive grinding wheels in North America. The company, which operates four manufacturing facilities in the United States and Mexico as well as production centers and sales offices throughout North America, will be retained as an independent brand.

Tyrolit says new synergies in production, purchasing, sales and customer service will open new opportunities in the American abrasives market. It adds that the acquisition also safeguards its future in this industry, which has undergone a constant process of consolidation that has been accelerated by the economic downturn. The company plans to continue to approach the market using the same channels and to maintain its focus on distributor partners and end users.
