Sumitomo Electric Carbide (Mount Prospect, Illinois) has announced the grand opening of its Tool Engineering Center (TEC) and plant expansion in new Berlin, Wisconsin. The company completed the new facility and expansion to provide increased support and service to North American customers.

The 10,000-square-foot TEC facility features training space and equipment for educating Sumitomo customer and partners. Meanwhile, the 55,000-square-foot expansion has more than doubled the size of the plant facility, which produces solid carbide drills, replaceable carbide drills, CBN and PCD inserts, and special round tools. The grand opening ceremony was held June 5, 2013.
