Leaders-In background

The merger of two prominent industry associations in Spain fulfills a goal outlined almost two years ago to create a single, stronger, more representative entity with renewed capacity for serving the manufacturing technology sector. The new entity, the Machine Tool Accessory, Component and Tool Manufacturers’ Association, combines the AMT, which represented Spanish accessory, component and tool makers, and the AFM, which represented Spanish machine tool builders.

The association represents a sector that directly employs some 7,000 people and indirectly employs another 7,000. Its members will include 138 associate companies with a joint potential turnover of almost 1,500 million Euros. Jose Ignacio Torecilla, managing director of the Maherholding Group, has been appointed president.
