RAPID Reflects Additive Manufacturing Potential

More than 2,500 attendees turned out for the 2013 RAPID Conference and Exposition, almost doubling last year’s attendance and reflecting widespread excitement about 3D printing and additive manufacturing, according to event organizer SME.
Held June 10 to 13 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the event featured more than 100 exhibitors, a technical conference, and keynote addresses given by Dr. Ivan Poupyrev, director of the Interaction Group, Disney Research, Pittsburgh; Brett Lambert, deputy assistant secretary of defense for Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy, U.S. Department of Defense; Mike Molnar, chief manufacturing officer, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); Ed Morris, director, National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute (NAMII); and Terry Wohlers of Wohlers Associates.
2014 RAPID will be held June 9 to 12 at the Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan.
