Machine tool builder Mitsui Seiki Kogyo, parent company of Mitsui Seiki USA (Franklin Lakes, New Jersey), has appointed Koichi Iwakura as its new president, following the retirement of previous president Tadayuki Abe.
Mr. Iwakura began his career with the company in 1971 after graduating from Kanazawa University with an engineering degree. He spent several years in the company’s R&D department before moving into the manufacturing and quality-control departments and eventually managerial and department director positions. His most recent position was Vice President/Representative Director. Mr. Iwakura is credited with developing most of the modern machine tool designs currently being sold worldwide.
