Hankook Delcam, Delcam’s South Korean joint venture, recently held its Asian Technical Summit in Gyeongju, Korea, in conjunction with the 20th User Group Meeting. The User Group meeting was attended by more than 1,000 and is said to be the world’s largest CAM user meeting. At this event, Delcam provided presentations and demonstrations of the latest versions of its range of CAD/CAM software, including Powermill 2010, which will be available at year’s end.
It also announced a number of new business developments. For example, the company has established a new division of its Professional Services Group (PSG) in Singapore, following PSG’s successes in Europe. Even though Delcam’s software has been sold throughout Asia for more than twenty years, the Singapore site will be the first office in the region for the PSG. Like the other locations, the new office will provide process development and prototyping services based on Delcam’s software products. Most of the projects undertaken by PSG involve the development of turnkey work cells using Delcam’s adaptive machining technology. It is expected that the Singapore location will also focus mainly on adaptive machining projects.
In addition, Delcam has established a dedicated Healthcare Division to provide a greater focus on this increasingly important part of its business. The new division will help companies across the medical, dental and associated industries to apply Delcam’s expertise and experience in taking advantage of the latest design and manufacturing techniques. Delcam’s Commercial Director, Bart Simpson, has been appointed as the head of the new Division.
Clive Martell, who has been appointed managing director after Hugh Humphreys stepped down from that position in August, also announced that Delcam recently gained its 30,000th customer, the German toolmaker Werkzeugbau Laichingen GmbH.
