Nikon has purchased inspection system manufacturer Metris, which is now a wholly-owned subsidiary rebranded under the name Nikon Metrology. The companies say the merger will synergize their strengths in technology, marketing and services to deliver metrology products with a broad application reach to a worldwide customer base.

According to Nikon, Metris’ 3D optical and mechanical metrology solutions complement its own 2.5D vision measuring systems, enabling the organization to provide a complete metrology offering under a globally recognized brand.
