Methods Machine Tools Hosts Michigan Open House
Machining demonstrations, seminars and a sake barrel smash are among the activities planned for the event.

Methods Machine Tools Inc. is hosting an open house May 6-7 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the opening of its Detroit Technology Center in Wixom, Michigan. The company will display machines from its partners at the event, including:
- Yasda YBM-640V-VIII CNC jig borer vertical machining center and YMC 430-VII Micro Center VMC;
- Nakamura-Tome AS-200MY, single-spindle, single-turret turning center; NTJ-100s; a WT-100 twin-spindle, twin-turret horizontal turning center; and a TW-20MMY twin-spindle, twin-turret turning center;
- FANUC D21LiA5-10K, D21MiA5-24K and D21MiA5-ECO RoboDrill VMCs and D21SiA5-NTRL automated cell;
- FANUC RoboCut wire EDM machines including the C400-10";
- KIWA KMH-500A HMC;
- Feeler HV-800 VMC, a FT-250MC horizontal turning center and a VMP-580APC 40-taper VMC;
- VisionGauge 500 Series digital optical comparators and new 700 series;
- Zeiss Contura-G2; and
- Exeron die sinking EDM.
At 10 a.m. on both days Mark Foster, president of Applied Geometrics Inc., will present a seminar titled, "GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) in the Manufacturing World Today." An additional seminar each day at 2 p.m. will highlight FANUC robotics and automation and dual check safety, along with material handling solutions and costs.
Other events will include a Sake Barrel Smash Ceremony and a $20 Robot Challenge Game, as well as daily lunch and refreshments. Visitors will also be able to check out products and talk to company representatives from vendors including Amada, Edge Technologies, MSC Industrial Supply, Sandvik, Weiler and 3-D Printer/3-D Systems and more.
