Mazak to Build New Plant in Japan
The new plant in Inabe City will gradually replace operations in the current Mie Prefecture plant.
Yamazaki Mazak has announced the construction of a new production facility in Inabe City, Japan, to be completed in 2019. The Yamazaki Mazak Inabe plant will combine production automation and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technology as part of the company’s iSmart Factory concept, following from the design of the Florence, Kentucky, as well as the existing Oguchi, Japan, plants. The Inabe plant will have 56,000 square meters of floor space for manufacturing large machine tools.
The iSmart concept uses advanced manufacturing cells and systems together with full digital integration to achieve free-flow data sharing in process control and operation monitoring. Within this system, the MTConnect open communications protocol works with process support software and provides connectivity and the capability to monitor and then harvest data from all the different production floor machines, cells, devices and processes.
Operations will transfer to the new plant from the current Yamazaki Mazak Seiko in the Mie Prefecture in stages.
