Mazak (Florence, Kentucky) has started construction on a new facility to house its Southwest Technology Center & Regional Headquarters in Houston, Texas. Although the new facility will offer support to manufacturers in all industries, it will place special focus on those serving the energy sector, the company says.
Construction of the 30,000-square-foot facility began last month on a 4.5-acre plot. It will offer cutting demonstrations, service and applications support for Mazak machine tools and a 100-seat learning and conference area for meetings, regional seminars and training events.
When completed, the new facility will mark the company’s third and largest expansion of the Southwest Technology Center, which was originally founded in 1978. A grand opening is anticipated in June 2011.
