Mastercam developer CNC Software will demonstrate the latest release of its CAM system at the inaugural imX (interactive manufacturing experience) industry event. Scheduled for September 12-14 in Las Vegas, imX aims to depart from the traditional tradeshow model and deliver a more interactive educational experience.
Mastercam X5 offers additional dynamic milling techniques, OptiRough tool paths, multi-axis machining strategies and more. These include a new tool path for hybrid finishing, in which a single tool path blends two cutting techniques. Smart hybrid finishing is designed to evaluate the model shape and smoothly switch between Constant Z cutting and Constant Scallop machining for finer finishes with less work.
Another new tool path, 3D surface high speed OptiRough, supports tools capable of large depths of cut. OptiRough is a new technique designed to remove large amounts of material quickly via dynamic milling motion. Large, aggressive cuts are followed by fast, smaller up-cuts to deliver roughed parts quickly.
