The success of Makino’s online seminar program has led to the creation of the Online Seminar Library, a multimedia educational resource designed to further the manufacturing competitiveness of North American shops. The library features more than 60 online seminars broadcast by Makino applications engineers since the program’s inception two years ago. Upcoming live events are expected to bring the total number of seminars to 100 by the end of the year.
The seminar library is organized by topic to aid manufacturers seeking information on technologies, techniques or machining processes. Topics include parts production, aerospace machining, die and mold machining, micromachining, hard milling, high speed machining and more. Each new, live seminar consists of a 20- to 25-minute presentation and a Q&A session with the speaker. Archived events include the entire presentation, a transcript and an area for visitors to submit questions via e-mail. While registration is required to attend, all seminars are available free of charge.
According to the company, this resource provides a means to learn advanced machining techniques and stay updated on new metal-cutting technologies without leaving the shop. Archived material is available at www.makino.com/library, and a list of upcoming seminars is available at www.makino.com/events.
