Cutting tool manufacturer Kennametal (Latrobe, Pennsylvania) has announced a multi-year renewal of its machining technology partnership with Chip Ganassi Teams (CGRT). The renewal of the relationship, which began in 1993, occurs in the wake of Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon’s first and second-place finishes at the 2012 Indianapolis 500. The cutting tool manufacturer also recently provided Ganassi’s Indianpolis machine shop with Kennametal Extrude Hone’s precision surface management technology, which is said to deliver uniform, repeatable, predictable results by removing rough cast surfaces that restrict the efficiency of critical engine components.
