According to organizers, the 2010 edition of IMTS—The International Manufacturing Technology Show signaled a strong comeback in manufacturing. Total registration for the six-day event in early September totaled 82,411 visitors, who roamed 1,137,375 square feet of exhibit space at Chicago’s McCormick Place to visit 1,728 manufacturing technology companies. “Manufacturing professionals were searching for confirmation that manufacturing in the United States is not dying or dead, and, in fact, found that it is robust and poised for growth,” says Peter Eelman, IMTS vice president—exhibitions and communications.
