Leaders-In background

In early May, DMG/Mori Seiki USA held its annual Innovation Days event at its U.S. headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Approximately 1,600 people attended the three-day event, which featured more than 30 milling, turning and multitasking machines in the company’s large showroom. This included the company’s full line of X-Class machines, which is said to combine precision, reliability, rigidity and affordability, as well as the U.S. debut of the five-axis DMU 65 monoblock machine. This machine combines the stability benefits of the company’s single-casting monoblock construction with a swivel rotary table.

The event’s seminars covered topics such as MTConnect, the Reshoring Initiative, Boeing production methods, setup time reduction techniques and shopfloor communication improvement strategies. A variety of machining equipment manufacturers were on hand, too, presenting table-top exhibits displaying tooling, inspection, software and related shopfloor product offerings.
