The new center will provide manufacturers supplying the medical industry with applications support and production technologies, including precision milling, EDM, laser texturing, micromachining and automation. The center is designed to meet a rise in demand for implants, surgical devices and other medical components.
GF Machining Solutions will celebrate the grand opening of the new center with free special events on April 19 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and on April 20 at the nearby GF Machining Solutions Microlution facility. At the Medical Center of Competence event, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the over 50,000-square-foot facility and view advanced technologies producing key medical components. In addition to special guest presentations, the event will showcase the company’s fully automated order to production system and specialized control demonstrations.
Also as part of the grand opening celebration, GF Machining Solutions Microlution will conduct factory tours and product demonstrations in its facility at 6629 West Irvine Park Road, Chicago, on April 20, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Highlighted technologies include femto laser solutions that enable medical manufacturers to handle high-precision machining applications.
Chris Jones, president and head of the company’s North and Central America market region, says, “The new Medical Center of Competence further reinforces that, not only [is the company] creating an environment for project collaboration, but also providing a place for medical manufacturers to learn how technologies such as high-speed milling, EDM, laser texturing, micromachining and automation will boost their productivity and keep them competitive.”
