2008 marks the last IMTS event to include fabricating and laser pavilions, and IMTS 2010 will feature a new non-traditional machining and processes pavilion. These developments are the result of a new partnership between the Fabtech International & AWS Welding Show including Metalform and IMTS sponsor AMT-The Association For Manufacturing Technology.
The goal is to combine the efforts of several trade associations to help make Fabtech appeal to the full range of metal forming and fabricating industry professionals. The first official combined event will take place in November 2009 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
AMT joins the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) to provide domestic and international support for Fabtech.
“Combining the strengths of all of the exhibitions and their sponsoring associations si a win for both exhibitors and attendees, who can now focus on one event that will meet all their needs,” says AMT President John B. Byrd III. Mr. Byrd says AMT will recommend that prospective exhibiting companies with forming, fabricating, laser and welding technology participate in Fabtech.
