Featuring an array of workshops, presentations and other activities, The National Robotic Safety Conference XXI invites attendees to explore the latest standards, technologies and products in robot and machine safety. Scheduled for October 26 through 28 at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn in Detroit, Michigan, the conference will be hosted by the Robotic Industries Association (RIA) and a group of sponsor companies.

Attendees will gain an undertstanding of the various safety standards through detailed workshop and conference sessions presented by safety experts and specialists, says Jeff Fryman, RIA’s director of standards development. Workshop topics include an introduction to robot vision, essential safety controls and a primer on functional safety. Another conference session detailing lean and safe robot cells coincides with presentations on updating safety standards, selecting safeguards and an Occupational OSHA view on robot safety. Also included on the agenda are case studies, a standards committee panel presentation, and a tabletop trade fair that will enable attendes to compare robots, accessories, safety products and vendors in the same room.

“There is pent-up demand for training, yet many companies are faced with budget restrictions,” notes Jim Adams, RIA’s marketing and public relations manager. To address this concern, RIA offers a variety of registration passes that offer affordable options for the main conference, workshops or the trade fair, he says.
