CCAM Partners with DMDI Institute
The newly-formed consortium will leverage CCAM’s resources for projects related to national security and energy.

The Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) will partner with the new public-private Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation (DMDI) Institute, part of the National Network for Manufacturning Innovation (NNMI) launched by President Obama. Through this partnership, CCAM member companies will participate in the institute’s projects, and the DMDI will be able to leverage CCAM’s Richmond, Va., facility and research capabilities.
Headquartered in Chicago, Ill., the DMDI Institute is led by the University of Illinois Labs and is one of two new manufacturing innovation institutes under the leadership of the U.S. Department of Defense. Both DMDI and the Lightweight and Modern Metals Manufacturing Innovation (LM3I) Institute are industry, university and nonprofit consortiums intended to develop technologies to meet national security and energy needs. The DMDI consortium includes 73 companies, universities, nonprofits and research labs.
