CAD/CAM Systems Offer Toolpath Engine Option
Software developer Celeritive (Cave Creek, Arizona) has signed agreements to integrate its high-performance toolpath engine, VoluMill, into two different CNC programming systems: CAMWorks CAM software from Geometric (Scottsdale, Arizona) and hyperMill CAD/CAM software from Open Mind Technologies (Needham, Massachusetts).Available as an option in both systems, VoluMill generates tool paths that dynamically manage metal removal rates to keep an even, user-controllable load on the cutting tool.

Software developer Celeritive (Cave Creek, Arizona) has signed agreements to integrate its high-performance toolpath engine, VoluMill, into two different CNC programming systems: CAMWorks CAM software from Geometric (Scottsdale, Arizona) and hyperMill CAD/CAM software from Open Mind Technologies (Needham, Massachusetts).
Available as an option in both systems, VoluMill generates tool paths that dynamically manage metal removal rates to keep an even, user-controllable load on the cutting tool. According to the company, this provides consistent, quality machining conditions for any combination of part geometry, material, machine and cutting tool. The resulting uniform chip formation and heat dissipation can reduce cycle times and extend tool life.
