The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) Educational Foundation has announced a newly developed and validated assessment designed to evaluate employment applicants who have no experience in metalworking. The “Occupational Aptitude and Knowledge Assessment” covers mechanical an spatial aptitudes, mathematical reasoning and measurement, communications and information, and industry understanding and behaviors.
Modular in design, the 60-item, multiple-choice assessment is said to predict an applicant’s potential to learn the job and ability to function in today’s precision manufacturing environment. The organization says it is especially suited for those entering into training programs or apprenticeships as well as applicants for equipment operator, assembler and entry-level maintenance technician positions.
