Leaders-In background

Amada has merged Amada Cutting Technologies (ACT, Los Angeles, California) and Amada Wasino America (AWA, Chicago, Illinois) to establish a new sales-specific company, Amada Machine Tools America. Headquartered in Chicago, the location of the company’s core base for its sheet metal and press business in North America, the new firm combines AWA’s turning and grinding technologies with ACT’s band saw and bimetal blade technologies. The company says this will provide customers with a wider range of proposals on the cutting process and further develop the branding of the Amada name based on a two-business-line system.

Toshinori Ichimura, current president of ACT and AWA, has been appointed president of the new 40-employee division. Amada Machine Tool (Isehara, Japan), a sales company for the manfuacturer’s cutting and machine tool business that was established in October 2009, will be responsible for sales and manufacturing as well as general administration of overseas affiliates.
