Moving to further strengthen its management team, 600 Group has appointed David Norman as its new group chief executive and David Richardson as managing director of the new machine tool division. Mr. Norman replaces Andrew Dick, the outgoing chief executive who has left the company to pursue other business interests.
Mr. Norman has held a number of senior managerial positions within Hanson plc, most recently as managing director of its electrical division. He participated in the subsequent MBO of that business, which was renamed Electrium, and remained as a main board director until 2000. Later, Mr. Normal was a divisional managing director at Swiss engineering group Saia-Burgess AG.
The group says it hopes to further facilitate its international development as markets continue to become more global. The goal is to free management teams of the operating companies to concentrate on innovation, new product development and extensions to existing ranges. Principle activities include the manufacture of lathes, workholding systems, laser marking systems and high-precision bearings as well as the provision of turnkey production solutions.
