View MoreBryce Ellis, previously associate publisher for Modern Machine Shop, has been promoted to publisher, taking on the role of business and sales leader for the multi-channel media brand.
“For over 90 years, Modern Machine Shop has been the voice for the metalworking industry. During that time, we have formed strong, lasting relationships with our audience and our advertisers,” says Mr. Ellis. “I look forward to working with the industry’s leading technology companies to help build their brands, solve their manufacturing challenges and introduce them to technologies that will help improve their businesses.”
According to Rick Kline Jr., president of Gardner Business Media, Mr. Ellis is more than ready to take on this new challenge. “Bryce is a talented salesperson, engaging leader and excellent communicator,” Mr. Kline says. “The Modern Machine Shop team, with nearly 100 years of combined experience, has already embraced his leadership with open arms.” And whereas previous leadership was under a group publisher responsible for Modern Machine Shop as well as its sister publications, Mr. Kline is pleased that Mr. Ellis will be fully dedicated to this brand.
A quote by Don Gardner, the company’s founder, greets visitors in the entryway of Modern Machine Shop’s Cincinnati headquarters: “Those who are found keeping pace with the new order of things are those who are young enough in mind and spirit to recognize the value of the new and to make themselves a part of it.” Reflecting on recent innovations in the machining and metalworking industry, including the expansion of digitalization and machine interconnectivity, Mr. Ellis says that the quote rings true today: “With this new era in manufacturing comes great opportunity. I look forward to what is to come and am proud to be a part of the team at Modern Machine Shop.”
Mr. Ellis began his career with Gardner Business Media in 2011 as an exhibitor advertising manager with the company’s Map Your Show property. In 2014, he became a district manager with Gardner Business Media’s Metalworking Group, working closely with metalworking OEMs and driving the development of business in different media and across multiple titles. Most recently, in 2018, he became associate publisher of Modern Machine Shop and has excelled at developing both domestic and international business relationships. As publisher, Mr. Ellis replaces Travis Egan, who recently left Gardner Business Media to accept a position with AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology. Mr. Egan will continue to work closely with Gardner as a key industry partner and advocate for manufacturing.
In his new role, Mr. Ellis will lead the editorial, marketing and sales teams of the Modern Machine Shop brand and its media channels.
