Osai USA’s OPENCut CNC hardware/software solution is designed to optimize startup, productivity and cutting quality for plasma 2D, bevel and oxy-fuel cutting. The complete modular system is customizable to suite an OEM’s needs. Modules are designed for the company’s OPEN CNC, the multi-touch operator panel, and drives and I/O systems controlled via EtherCAT fieldbus. The plasma generator system is available in 120-, 250- and 420-A sizes equipped with automatic gas console.

The OPENCut, human-machine interface (HMI) and CAM software with 2D and 3D graphics for profile definition has pre-defined icon libraries and automatic nesting of different profiles. Using advanced software modules and hardware components, the package simplifies installation, startup and time to market, according to the company.

Included in the system package are a graphic, multi-touch SW-oriented HMI with 2D and 3D graphics for program execution control; customizable machine logic specifically designed for plasma/oxy fuel; offset management compensation of bevel cutting parameters; 3D cutting head control; CNC OPENcontrol software; drives connected via EtherCAT or fieldbuses; and multi-tool drilling and milling head management, among others.

OPENCut is organized into modular units, including the Standard unit level for all functions to control 2D machines; the Advanced level, adding automatic nesting of different profiles and a 3D simulator; the Automatic level, which offers automatic cutting parameter choice, lead in/out, cutting path checking and automatic collision correction, and cycle time calculation; and the 3D Automatic level, adding bevel head management and technological parameters for bevel cutting.
