View MoreBobCAD-CAM has released version 5 of its BobCAM for Solidworks CNC programming software including more features, modules and overall system improvements. This version adds two add-on modules: Mill Turn, a CAM programming product, and BobArt, an artistic CAD application. The Mill Turn CAM module is said to support nearly all types of multitasking machines, including machines with Y-axis capabilities and multi-axis machines that include a milling spindle. BobART can also be used within Solidworks and enables engraving of logos, creating raised or sunken text, even sculpting and creating artistic models.
The BobCAM software operates as a plug-in product for the Solidworks design software. New features are intended to increase control and reduce the amount of time machinists spend programming. These include better surfacing toolpaths, smarter hole-making capabilities, more tool types and new tabbing options.
The plug-in offers advanced surfacing capabilities; the company’s Dynamic Machining Strategies; a wizard-driven interface; a realistic machine simulator; and G-code generation. Using BobCAM, users are able to go from designing part models to applying CAM machining operations without ever leaving the Solidworks interface, the company says.
