In a recent MMS Online Webinar, Spaceclaim demonstrated its CAD software in which users create models not by interacting with a feature tree, but by interacting directly with the model itself. As the company’s Blake Courter said during the presentation, “Anyone who has played video games ought to be able to quickly create a model.” This ease of use is not just fun, but a response to a real problem. In many manufacturing facilities, the need for non-designers to sometimes create and repair models can create a bottleneck that slows parts from getting to production.
